After having used McAfee now for the past few months, I can vouch for it as a top quality security solution. Many moons ago, I was faithful to Norton, but after their determination and persistence to take over my computer I had to find an alternative. I tried PC Cillin, which was great to begin with but eventually got on my nerves with all the notices that didn't seem that important. Next I gave Panda a try and although I'm sure it's pretty good, it didn't seem to like my network card so cut off my connection altogether. McAfee was next in the queue, and thankfully the honeymoon is over, and things are still going strong.

A few things about it. The interface is very polished, with every element within easy reach. The set up is straight forward, with a few clearly laid out steps such as defining programs that you want to have permission to connect to the web or defining a schedule for automatically scanning your drive for viruses. It has anti-spyware tools (although I still prefer to run scans using ad-aware & Spybot every now and again).

My one source of concern is that it seems to start up a very large number of processes when Windows boots and although there doesn't seem to be much of a performance hit, I still prefer to have as few processes going as possible.

In a nutshell:
Knocks the socks off Norton and will save your computer and your sanity for at least another six months.
